TOUR OPERATORS

Are you a Tour Operator looking to provide your guests with a truly memorable and authentic cultural experience?

At People not Places, we offer a wide range of cross-cultural opportunities to learn about and interact with Israel’s local communities.

CULTURAL TOURISM

Tourists today are no longer satisfied with just visiting archaeological sites or experiencing destinations through the window of a bus. Rather, they are looking for a cultural encounter where they can meet and connect with local people on a more personal level. They want to experience holidays, do workshops on handicrafts, and learn about each other’s cultures and traditions over a home-cooked meal. As such, one of the fastest growing trends in tourism today is cultural tourism.
With its anthropologically-grounded perspective, People not Places is at the forefront of cultural tourism initiatives in Israel. We look forward to bringing people together by partnering with tour operators to showcase Israel’s rich cultural mosaic.

HANDS-ON EXPERIENCES

If you are looking for a more active experience than the traditional guide-led tour, then a workshop or volunteering opportunity are the perfect alternative. For example, traditional handicrafts are a window onto the local culture, its natural resources, and symbolic life. By participating in a handicrafts workshop, guests produce something with their own hands that they can take back home with them that is far more meaningful than any generic, mass-produced souvenir that they might purchase in a local shop.
Similarly, by preparing food together with locals, guests have the opportunity to spend time with their hosts, learn about their life experiences in an intimate setting, enjoy a meal that they helped prepare while directly supporting the local economy. Even better, guests can take these recipes back home with them and not just reminisce about the delicious foods that they ate, but also share these tastes with family and friends. Last, but not least, opportunities for guests to volunteer – even for a couple of hours – can be deeply meaningful and offer a way to actively give back to the communities that they are visiting.

CULINARY EXPERIENCES

Few things embody culture and identity like food. Food is a source of pride anywhere one goes in the world. It ties us to our earliest memories, it is symbolic, connects us to family, friends, and community as well as to our national holidays and cultural traditions. Located at the crossroads of three continents and with people from all four corners of the world, Israeli cuisine is renowned for its variety, freshness, innovation, and fusion of tastes.
At People not Places, our culinary tours do not simply provide you with the opportunity to sample various foods, but presents you with the social, historical, and symbolic context that is lacking in other tours. Most importantly, we encourage our guests to come together around food to meet locals and to hear their stories while sharing a meal together. So Yalla – come break bread with us!
